Sunday’s Coming!

March 30, 2018 | Posted in Easter | By

As we honor Good Friday, here is a poem remembering the betrayal, crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Christ Jesus.

It’s Friday
Jesus is praying
Peter’s a sleeping
Judas is betraying
But Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
Pilate’s struggling
The council is conspiring
The crowd is vilifying
They don’t even know
That Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
The disciples are running
Like sheep without a shepherd
Mary’s crying
Peter is denying
But they don’t know
That Sunday’s a comin’

It’s Friday
The Romans beat my Jesus
They robe him in scarlet
They crown him with thorns
But they don’t know
That Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
See Jesus walking to Calvary
His blood dripping
His body stumbling
And his spirit’s burdened
But you see, it’s only Friday
Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
The world’s winning
People are sinning
And evil’s grinning

It’s Friday
The soldiers nail my Savior’s hands
To the cross
They nail my Savior’s feet
To the cross
And then they raise him up
Next to criminals

It’s Friday
But let me tell you something
Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
The disciples are questioning
What has happened to their King
And the Pharisees are celebrating
That their scheming
Has been achieved
But they don’t know
It’s only Friday
Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
He’s hanging on the cross
Feeling forsaken by his Father
Left alone and dying
Can nobody save him?
Ooooh
It’s Friday
But Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
The earth trembles
The sky grows dark
My King yields his spirit

It’s Friday
Hope is lost
Death has won
Sin has conquered
and Satan’s just a laughin’

It’s Friday
Jesus is buried
A soldier stands guard
And a rock is rolled into place

But it’s Friday
It is only Friday
Sunday is a comin’!

Planned Parenthood Wants a Disney Princess Who’s Had an Abortion

A Pennsylvania branch of Planned Parenthood posted a bizarre tweet this week calling on Disney to create an animated princess who has had an abortion.

The tweet read,

We need a disney princess who’s had an abortion / We need a disney princess who’s pro-choice / We need a disney princess who’s an undocumented immigrant / We need a disney princess who’s actually a union worker / We need a disney princess who’s trans[gender]

Planned Parenthood has since deleted the post, but many people have pointed out that the tweet was incredibly ironic: Who are Disney’s biggest fans? Children. And who kills hundreds of thousands of unborn children every year? Planned Parenthood.

It all reminds me of something John Stonestreet at the Colson Center for Christian Worldview jokingly wrote last December:

Who’s sabotaging Planned Parenthood’s Twitter account? . . . I’ve been saying for a while now that there’s got to be a pro-life mole running Planned Parenthood’s Twitter page. So many tweets and images they post seem to undermine or parody their pro-death position.

New Casino Proposal In The Works

March 28, 2018 | Posted in Casinos, Gambling | By

Talk Business and Politics reports a ballot question committee has formed to push for casino gambling in Pulaski, Miller, Boone, and Benton counties.

The group is called Arkansas Wins In 2018, Inc.

You may recall Arkansas Wins In 2016 proposed a similar casino amendment that ultimately was removed from the ballot.

This appears to be an effort to let out-of-state businessmen build casinos in Texarkana, Harrison, Little Rock, and Northwest Arkansas.

The Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma gave $6 million to Arkansas Wins in 2016. The Cherokee Nation also would have operated one of the casinos the 2016 amendment authorized. It is not clear at this point if the Cherokee Nation would operate casinos under the 2018 proposal.

Earlier this month Attorney General Leslie Rutledge rejected a casino proposal from Driving Arkansas Forward that would build casinos in Jefferson, Garland, Crittenden, and Pope counties. That amendment effort reportedly is backed by the Quapaw Tribe in Oklahoma.

Casino gambling is linked to homelessness, domestic violence, divorce, and bankruptcy. It’s a blight on the community. Arkansas already has enough problems from gambling. We don’t need any more.
