Arkansas Joins Second Lawsuit Against Biden Administration’s Vaccine Mandates

On Wednesday Arkansas’ Attorney General’s office joined a coalition of states in a second lawsuit challenging the Biden Administration’s federal vaccine mandates.

The lawsuit was filed against the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in federal court in Missouri.

Besides Arkansas, plaintiffs in the lawsuit include attorneys general from Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Wyoming, Alaska, South Dakota, North Dakota, and New Hampshire.

This latest lawsuit is in addition to one that Arkansas joined last week in the Eighth Circuit against the U.S. Department of Labor.

The lawsuit is directed at the federal government’s COVID vaccine mandate for healthcare workers. The mandate requires employees at healthcare facilities that receive Medicaid or Medicare funding to be vaccinated.

The lawsuit argues that the Biden Administration’s vaccine mandate for healthcare workers is unlawful and “threatens to exacerbate an alarming shortage of healthcare workers, particularly in rural communities.”

It also notes that the Biden’s Administration mandate would conflict with Arkansas’ state laws concerning immunizations — including a new law recently passed at the state legislature’s extended session.

Prairie County Quorum Court Adopts Pro-Life Resolution, Resolves to Protect Life “From Conception Until Natural Death”

On Tuesday night the Prairie County Quorum Court adopted a resolution affirming that the county is Pro-Life.

Prairie County is Arkansas’ seventeenth Pro-Life Community.

Earlier this year the Arkansas Legislature passed Act 392 of 2021 by Rep. Kendon Underwood (R – Cave Springs) and Sen. Gary Stubblefield (R – Branch). Act 392 is a good law that affirms that municipalities can designate themselves as Pro-Life.

Act 392 also makes it clear that Pro-Life Communities can install signs or banners announcing that they are Pro-Life.

Since Act 392 was enacted over the summer, Arkansas has seen a rapid expansion of Pro-Life Cities and Counties across the state.

Washington, Benton, CrawfordCleburnePopeJacksonSalineFaulknerPerrySebastianLee, and White counties have adopted Pro-Life resolutions. So have the cities of MariannaRussellville, and Springdale as well as the Town of LaGrange.

As public opinion polling has shown time and again, Arkansans are overwhelmingly pro-life. It should not come as any surprise that communities in Arkansas would vote to adopt resolutions affirming that they support the sanctity of human life.
