Words from Our Presidents: Bush, Sr., on the Freedom of Religion

As part of a series entitled Words from Our Presidents we are bringing you different from quotes from U.S. Presidents on religion, religious liberty, and individual freedom. Today we have a quote from President George H. W. Bush’s remarks to the National Association of Evangelicals in Chicago, Illinois, from March 3, 1992.

“Some people seem to believe that freedom of religion requires government to keep our lives free from religion. Well, I believe they’re just plain wrong. Our government was founded on faith. Government must never promote a religion, of course, but it is duty bound to promote religious liberty. And it must never put the believer at a disadvantage because of his belief.”

MO, OK Schools and Parents Concerned about Marijuana-Laced Candy

Marijuana CandyThe Southwest Missouri Drug Task Force intercepted bags of marijuana-laced candy mailed from Colorado to a Pineville, Missouri address.

The candy resembled lemon drops, gummy bears, and mints. According to Missouri news, John Luckey with the Task Force said that they found no one living at the Pineville address. The bags of candy show how much THC is in each piece, and Luckey says the marijuana-candy so closely resembles regular candy it would be easy for a child to put it in a Ziploc bag and carry it to school without anyone knowing the difference.

Planned Parenthood Expansion of “Telemed” Could Affect Arkansas

Planned Parenthood of the Heartland which serves Iowa, Arkansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma has announced plans to expand “reproductive Health Services” via telemedicine at satellite Planned Parenthood centers around the state of Iowa.

“Telemedicine” is a relatively new concept in the field of medicine. It refers to medical checkups and procedures–including dispensing abortion-inducing drugs–carried out with a doctor via video conference rather than in person. A number of people colloquially refer to this as “webcam abortion.”
