Texas Nativity Scene Will Stay on Courthouse Lawn

The Freedom From Religion Foundation has issued a complaint over a nativity scene appearing on the lawn of a Texas county courthouse.

The group asserts the display may be unconstitutional. The local judge, however, says the nativity scene is not going anywhere and will continue to be on display through the Christmas season.

NY Town Asks Supreme Court to Weigh Bizarre Lower Court Ruling

A New York town’s policy about opening town meetings with prayer was struck down by an appeals court last May. In a bizarre twist, the court instructed the town to invite non-Christian clergy from neighboring communities to open its meetings with invocations because the town consists primarily of Christians, and local non-Christians may feel left out by Christian prayers.

Sounds strange, doesn’t it? Alliance Defending Freedom thinks so, and its attorneys have appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court to weigh in on this ruling.
