Words from Our Founders: George Washington to Benedict Arnold

Today we continue our series examining our Founding Fathers in their own words and considering their high esteem for religion, religious liberty, and virtue.

Below is an excerpt from a set of instructions issued by General George Washington to then-Colonel Benedict Arnold on September 14, 1775. They order him to ensure his soldiers do not ridicule religious ceremonies and beliefs of others, and that the free exercise of religion is enjoyed by all, to the fullest extent possible.

Federal Judge: Arizona Abortion Law Can Take Effect

“Arizona’s ban on abortions starting at 20 weeks of pregnancy will take effect this week as scheduled after a federal judge ruled Monday that the new law is constitutional,” reports Fox News.

This is great news. Arkansas Right to Life spearheaded a 20-week ban here in Arkansas during the last legislative session, but it was defeated. From what I can remember, opponents of the law argued that it could be unconstitutional. This ruling on the Arizona law could help us defend the similar effort underway in Arkansas.
