Study Finds Children Raised by Same-Sex Couples Disadvantaged

One of the most significant studies on same-sex parenting was released recently. The New Family Structures Study just published in Social Science Research found that children raised in a same-sex household were in fact disadvantaged when compared to other children.

Among other things, the study found that these children:

  • Are 10 times more likely to have been “touched sexually by a parent or other adult caregiver.”
  • Are more likely to be currently cohabiting
  • Are almost 4 times more likely to be currently on public assistance
  • Are less likely to be currently employed full-time
  • Are more than 3 times more likely to be unemployed
  • Are nearly 4 times more likely to identify as something other than entirely heterosexual
  • Are 3 times as likely to have had an affair while married or cohabiting
  • Are nearly 4 times as likely to have been “physically forced” to have sex against their will
  • Are more likely to have “attachment” problems related to the ability to depend on others
  • Use marijuana more frequently
  • Smoke more frequently

This sobering study reinforces what others have said all along: Same-sex households deprive children of important role models that come with having a good father and a good mother. The ideal place for children is in a stable home with a married mom and dad.

Former APA President: Homosexuals Can Change

Former American Psychological Association President Dr. Nicholas Cummings says that, contrary to the APA’s current position, homosexuals can change their sexual orientation.

Dr. Cummings led the movement to declassify homosexuality as a mental illness, and considers himself a staunch champion of “gay rights.” But he also says very plainly that homosexuals can leave the homosexual lifestyle if they are determined to do so, and that in his professional career he has seen it happen.
