Is The Transgender Miss Nevada Making or Mocking History?

Last month the New York Post congratulated the first transgender contestant for winning the Miss Nevada USA Pageant, saying that the biological male was “making history.”

Kataluna Enriquez bested 21 other contestants, in the usual beauty pageant stuff including wearing skimpy swimsuits. For years, these contests have been justly criticized as sexist and objectifying to women. But now that a man is competing, they’re “historic”?

Certainly not like the first man on the moon, or Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, or the signing of the Magna Carta? I doubt that “men in beauty pageants” will earn an entry in our history books next to “George Washington.”

If these steps in the trans revolution are remembered as historic, it will be as signs of a culture that lost its way and indulged in unhealthy delusions. 

Those who declare that trans men are “making history” should take care. After all, History is littered with “historic” moments, once praised, that are now derided.

Biden Administration Challenges Arkansas’ SAFE Act

On Thursday President Biden’s U.S. Department of Justice filed a statement of interest opposing Arkansas’ Save Adolescents From Experimentation (SAFE) Act in federal court.

The SAFE Act is a 2021 law that protects children in Arkansas from sex-reassignment procedures, puberty blockers, and cross-sex hormones.

The DOJ’s statement filed on Thursday calls sex-reassignment procedures “life-saving care” and argues that the SAFE Act violates the U.S. Constitution.

The brief also claims that Arkansas’ reasons for supporting the SAFE Act are “mere pretext for animus against transgender minors” — in other words, that Arkansas’ policymakers must secretly be motivated by hate instead of a desire to help children.

But as we have said time and time again, researchers do not know the long term effects puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones can have on kids.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has never approved puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones for the purpose of gender transition. Doctors are giving these hormones to kids off-label, in a manner the FDA never intended.

That is why many experts agree that giving puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to children is experimental, at best.

That’s also why a major hospital in Sweden announced earlier this year that it would no longer administer puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to children.

It is deeply disappointing that the federal government would use taxpayer dollars to oppose a law that protects children from experimentation. Fortunately, Arkansas’ Attorney General’s office is fighting back, and we believe that federal courts will uphold this good law.

Walton Family to Offer $1 Million in Grants for Pro-LGBT Groups in Arkansas

The Associated Press reports that the Walton Family Foundation will offer $1 million in grant money to pro-LGBT groups in Arkansas.

The AP writes,

The new fund is being established with support from the Alice L. Walton Foundation and from Olivia and Tom Walton through the Walton Family Foundation. The fund will distribute grants of $25,000 and more for groups that offer legal, health, education and advocacy services, along with other high-demand needs.

Arkansas Community Foundation will oversee the fund.

Based on the description of the grant, it sounds as if the money could go to groups like Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, or the Human Rights Campaign — all of whom have been active in Arkansas over the years.

Besides being the nation’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood has also become a major provider of cross-sex hormones and other transgender services both in Arkansas and nationwide.

The ACLU currently is suing to block the State of Arkansas from enforcing a law that protects children from sex-reassignment procedures.

And the Human Rights Campaign has a history of promoting its pro-LGBT agenda in Arkansas.
