Three Reasons Judge Sonia Sotomayor is not the Right Choice for the U.S. Supreme Court

First, her record reveals that she is perfectly willing to lift the blindfold of justice to achieve her desired result. In 2005, she told students at the Duke University School of Law that the U.S. Court of Appeals is “where policy is made.” Most Americans are tired of judges who make laws rather than interpreting. Opposition to Sotomayor

Today, the Senate Judiciary Committee began confirmation hearings for U.S. Supreme Court nominee Judge Sonia Sotomayor. Some people believe her confirmation may be a “done deal,” but she does have opposition. Some of it, like the National Rifle Association, is pretty substantial. (more…)

High Dollar Lottery Executives Hired

Not one lottery ticket has been sold, but a bunch of people are getting rich off of the Arkansas Lottery just the same.

Arkansas Lottery Commission Executive Director Ernie Passailaigue says David Barden, South Carolina Lottery official, has accepted an offer to serve as the lottery’s vice president of gambling operations. Barden will be paid $225,000 annually. Passailaigue earlier hired another South Carolina Lottery official, Ernestine Middleton, as the Arkansas Lottery’s vice president of administration. Middleton, who started work Thursday, also will be paid $225,000 a year. (more…)
