Coming Soon: Pro-Life Camp for Arkansas High School Students

Arkansas Right to Life is hosting its first ever Arkansas Camp Joshua (ACJ), a weekend pro-life camp to train high school students to be pro-life leaders. The camp has already been successfully held in multiple states, and we are now so excited to host Arkansas’ first Camp Joshua this Summer of 2012! Camp Joshua’s goal is to train the students so that upon graduation, the students will be equipped to confidently defend their pro-life views, enact new pro-life efforts in their high school and community, as well as starting critical pro-life work on their college campuses. Arkansas Right to Life is bringing in experienced speakers to educate the students on crucial pro-life topics. Some of the sessions included are Abortion 101, Pro-Life Persuasion, Euthanasia 101, The Impact of Abortion, and more!

The cost of the camp is $80.00 (includes meals, accommodations, materials, T-Shirt and transportation to and from camp location). Ages for the camp are 14-18, students who are 2012 graduating seniors will be accepted regardless of their age. Camp Joshua will be held at the beautiful CrossHeirs Retreat Center ( The deadline to apply for Camp Joshua is June 26, and all registration can be done online at the website: Contact Arkansas Right to Life at after this point.

Talk Business Poll Shows Differing Results for Ballot Issues

Talk Business recently conducted a scientific poll in conjunction with Hendrix College on three major ballot issues facing Arkansans. In short, it appears that Arkansans would likely defeat efforts to raise the sales tax by a half-cent and raise the severance tax on natural gas to 7%. Another issue polled dealt with changing Arkansas campaign and ethics laws to ban legislators from receiving any gifts from lobbyists, among other things. This issue appears to have very strong support and looks like it would easily pass at the ballot box. To read more about the poll results, click here. We asked Roby Brock, executive producer of Talk Business, about doing a poll on medical marijuana. He signaled that this was a good idea and he’d try to do one next time around.

A Faithful Supporter’s Touching Letter

From time to time, we get a touching letter from one of our supporters. Today, we received a letter that we’d like to share with you.

Dear Sir,

I am now a widow, almost 80 years old, disabled and living alone. I live on a small Social Security income – less than 800.00 per month, so I can’t send every month, but will send when I can.

I would like to get your news letters to keep up on what’s going on in our country and our state. I am glad to see someone still on our side – still hanging in there. Since I lost my husband a couple months ago, I just can’t get out and do much, but do like to hear from you and have some idea what’s going on in our area at least.

God bless you in your work.
