We hope you’ve enjoyed parts one through four of our series on pro-life legislation. This week, we’ll discuss another great pro-life bill—SB840—by Sen. Missy Irvin.
Sen. Missy Irvin (R-Mountain Home) introduced SB840, a bill that applied U.S. Food and Drug Administration protocols to the dangerous abortion drug RU-486. This pill, or a variation of it, is widely used in Arkansas—especially at Planned Parenthood facilities. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration wrote recommendations for the dispensation and use of RU-486, but clinics are not required to follow the recommendations. Sen. Irvin’s bill would have made these protocols Arkansas law and ensured abortion clinics must comply with the FDA when dispensing these drugs.
