There were plenty of fireworks and surprises as primary results poured in last night, but who would’ve thought that the most talked about race would be for president on the Democratic side?

John Wolfe, a Tennessee lawyer, purchased ballot access to run for president as a Democrat in Arkansas—and that’s what set off the sparks. With 100% of precincts statewide now reporting, the unknown Wolfe has pulled in an impressive 42% of the vote (68,108 votes total) to President Obama’s 58% (95,385 votes total). Imagine if John Wolfe would have actually campaigned in Arkansas. He might have won.

What does this mean, exactly? It means that nearly half of active Democratic voters in the state are dissatisfied with President Obama’s performance. As he and their party continue to move even further to the left by supporting same-sex marriage and trampling religious liberty, these voters find themselves increasingly isolated. 68,000 Democratic primary voters wanted to send a message to their party. They most certainly did.

But will this message be received and acted upon? Given the kind of disregard our president has shown for the will of the American people so far, I highly doubt it.
