Woman Accuses Abortionist of Forcing and Botching Abortion

A woman represented by attorneys with Alliance Defending Freedom and the Family Policy Council of West Virginia filed suit Friday against Women’s Health Center of West Virginia and its abortionist, Rodney Lee Stephens, of Charleston. The woman, Itai Gravely, claims Stephens forced her to proceed with an abortion against her will and then left her baby’s head in her womb.

“A woman’s life and health is more important than an abortionist’s bottom line,” said Alliance Defending Freedom allied attorney Jeremiah Dys, president and general counsel of the Family Policy Council of West Virginia. “What Stephens and Women’s Health Center did to Itai is beyond the pale. She has been exposed to extraordinary cruelty, and her life was put in jeopardy.”

Delaware House Considers “Transgender Discrimination” Bill

The Delaware House of Representatives is considering a bill that would ban “transgender discrimination.”

Opponents of the bill raise a number of concerns–including that ” the language in the bill will give a sex offender a defensible excuse to enter an opposite-sex restroom to stalk a victim.”

IRS Caught on Tape: Keep Faith to Yourself

Alliance Defending Freedom made public Monday audio of a phone conversation that the Internal Revenue Service placed to a non-profit organization that provides support to women in abusive pregnancy situations. In the recorded phone conversation, an IRS agent lectures the president of the organization about forcing its religion and beliefs on others and inaccurately explains that the group must remain neutral on issues such as abortion.

NYC Council Votes to Encourage NY Lawmakers to Treat Churches Fairly

The New York City Council has passed a “right to worship” resolution by a vote of 38 to 11 encouraging the New York state legislature to allow faith-based institutions to rent space in New York City public schools.

New York City has had a protracted debate over barring churches from renting public facilities–even though other private groups may do so.
