M.E.: Notaries Who Don’t Wed Same-Sex Couples Violate Human Rights

Officials in Maine have announced that any notary public who weds heterosexual couples must also wed same-sex couples, or be found in violation of the state’s human rights law, regardless of the religious convictions of the notary.

This announcement comes as Maine has recently legalized same-sex ‘marriage.’

The Montana Supreme Court rejected a lawsuit involving same-sex couples’ demands for benefits equal to those of legally married couples on Monday.

Plaintiffs in the lawsuit have vowed to re-file in lower court.

A poll released by the University of Arkansas indicates that little has changed in the minds of Arkansans on the issue of same-sex marriage.

Since 2005, The Arkansas Poll has asked respondents to identify their attitude toward same-sex marriage and civil unions.
