Little Rock, Ark. – On Wednesday, Americans United for Life announced Arkansas is the most pro-life state in America for the seventh year in a row. The pro-life organization ranks all fifty states based on state laws protecting the unborn, the elderly, the disabled, and the terminally ill.

In a statement, Family Council President Jerry Cox said, “Being named America’s most pro-life state for the seventh year in a row reflects our commitment and that of our elected officials to the sanctity of innocent human life. Behind every law are people whose lives deserve protection: our elderly neighbors, people with disabilities, those nearing the end of life, and unborn children. Our goal is to work with Governor Sanders and the legislature to make Arkansas the safest place in America for the most vulnerable.”

Cox pointed out that most Arkansans do not support abortion on demand. “Arkansas is the nation’s most pro-life state, because Arkansans themselves are deeply pro-life. Public opinion polling has shown for years that Arkansans do not support abortion on demand. Arkansas’ abortion rate plummeted to historic lows and Arkansas enacted good pro-life laws years before the U.S. Supreme Court reversed Roe v. Wade. More than forty pregnancy resource centers around the state help women choose options besides abortion.”

Cox praised the many different people and organizations that have worked together to make Arkansas such a pro-life state. “Arkansas Right to Life has been defending human life for more than fifty years, and Family Council has been at it for nearly four decades. Arkansas’ General Assembly has generally prohibited abortion except to save the life of the mother and has enacted good laws that protect people from euthanasia and assisted suicide. Ministers, churches, elected officials, pregnancy resource centers, and everyday Arkansans all have worked tirelessly to make Arkansas the pro-life state that it is today. Being pro-life is about much more than opposing abortion. We are focused on making sure our laws respect and protect innocent human life at every stage from conception until natural death. We look forward to continuing that pro-life mission in 2027.”
