“We’re afraid that if the language suggests that parental authority is not absolute, we’re going to have an international body telling our parents they can’t homeschool,” says Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina.
Recently, the question has been asked, once again, whether the Notice of Intent to Home School–a form filed by every home school family in the State of Arkansas–is subject to Freedom of Information Act requests.
This question was actually answered by Mike Beebe in 2004, when he was Attorney General. The answer is “No.”
Some lawmakers in Sweden are pushing for legislation that would allow the government to, as the Alliance Defense Fund puts it, abduct children.
The law would give social workers more leeway to take home school children away from their parents, and place the children in state custody.
