7th Circuit Puts Brakes on Abortion Pill Mandate for Family-Run Co.

“The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit issued a preliminary injunction Wednesday that blocks enforcement of the Obama administration’s abortion pill mandate against family-run Grote Industries, an Indiana-based vehicle lighting manufacturer that filed suit in October of last year.”

This is the latest setback for the HHS contraception mandate. According to ADF’s website, the Obama Administration is losing 10-4 in court on this issue.

Pharmacists Oppose Marijuana Proposal

Below is a press release from the Arkansas Pharmacists Association opposing Issue 5, the act that legalizes “medical” marijuana in Arkansas.

PHARMACISTS OPPOSE MEDICAL MARIJUANA ACT

LITTLE ROCK, AR (Oct. 15, 2012) – The Arkansas Pharmacists Association (APA) opposes the “Arkansas Medical Marijuana Act” that will appear on the November 2012 ballot. Because the Act does not use the skill and education of pharmacists and because it creates a direct conflict with federal law, APA opposes this Act as it is currently written.

Did America’s Founding Fathers Use Marijuana?

An interesting question emerges and re-emerges from time to time on the Internet: Did America’s Founding Fathers use marijuana?

This question is prompted by spurious quotes circulating in chain emails and online forums from America’s founders discussing the manner in which cannabis might be smoked. It gets a tinge of legitimacy by an interesting, if little-known fact: Some of America’s founders apparently grew hemp.

The assumption, obviously, is that if men like George Washington grew hemp—which is a generic term for varieties of the cannabis plant—then they must have smoked it, right? Well, not exactly.
