Family Council Hosts Pastor’s Day at the Capitol 2024

On Tuesday Family Council hosted Pastor’s Day at the Capitol 2024. Church leaders and elected officials gathered in the Rotunda of the Arkansas Capitol Building for prayer and worship and to hear special messages.

This annual, nonpartisan event focuses on worshiping God, praying for our leaders, ministering to those in authority, fostering better relationships between ministers and legislators, practicing responsible citizenship, and learning how congregations can do the same.

Imagine the echo of worship—the prayers of godly men and women—the Gospel openly proclaimed in Arkansas’ most prominent place—the State Capitol Building!

That’s why we tell people Pastor’s Day at the Capitol is one of the best things we do all year.

We appreciate everyone who joined us for this special day — especially Bishop Silas Johnson, Treasurer Larry Walther, Sen. Kim Hammer, Gov. Sarah Sanders, and our many other guests. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!

Governor Sanders Proclaims Day of Prayer for Arkansas Students

Governor Sanders has proclaims a Day of Prayer for Arkansas Students this week.

Act 902 of 2021 establishes a Day of Prayer for Arkansas Students on the last Wednesday of September each year.

The governor’s prayer proclamation reads,

WHEREAS: Students, teachers, and parents in Arkansas enjoy the right to pray. Arkansas and its government acknowledge that we are all endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights, among them freedom of religion;

WHEREAS: As the Gospel of John tells us, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us — whatever we ask — we know that we have what we asked of him;”

WHEREAS: Knowing the power of prayer, we ask God to provide Arkansas students with wisdom and guidance in this new schoolyear;

WHEREAS: We pray that our students see the benefits of the most sweeping education reforms — Arkansas LEARNS — to be implemented in our schools in decades so that no child is trapped in a lifetime of poverty;

WHEREAS: We unite with our fellow Arkansans to thank God for our great schools and the opportunities they provide; and

WHEREAS: We make a commitment to always protect the right to pray in our schools, knowing the power God holds over our state and her people.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS, Governor of the State of Arkansas, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the laws of the State of Arkansas, do hereby proclaim September 27th,2023 as

“A DAY OF PRAYER FOR ARKANSAS STUDENTS”

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Arkansas to be affixed this 6th day of September, in the year of our Lord 2023.

We want to thank Governor Sanders for recognizing September 27 as the state’s third annual Day of Prayer for Arkansas Students — and we want to encourage Arkansans everywhere to pause this week to pray for our students, our teachers, and our school administrators. There truly is tremendous value in taking time to pray.

Governor Hutchinson has issued a proclamation setting aside Wednesday, September 28, a Day of Prayer for Arkansas Students.

Act 902 of 2021 establishes a Day of Prayer for Arkansas Students on the last Wednesday of September each year.

The governor’s prayer proclamation reads,

WHEREAS: We unite in prayer, approaching the throne of God with confidence, as we ask for wisdom and guidance for the students of Arkansas throughout this school year; and

WHEREAS: Our deep reliance on God will guide us through our academic endeavors and challenging times; and

WHEREAS: Joined in faith and prayer, we seek the Lord’s wisdom above all, and we humbly ask for God’s guidance, peace, and strength for students in Arkansas and our nation; and

WHEREAS: Students, teachers, and administrators of our State are afforded the privilege of prayer, affirming our spiritual heritage and the principles upon which our nation was founded; and

WHEREAS: Recognizing the love and power of God, we unite with fellow citizens to exercise the freedom we have to gather in prayer with thankfulness while seeking guidance, provision, protection and purpose for the benefit of every individual and our state as a whole;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ASA HUTCHINSON, Governor of the State of Arkansas, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the laws of the State of Arkansas, do hereby proclaim September 28th, 2022, as

A DAY OF PRAYER FOR ARKANSAS STUDENTS

across the state, and I urge all citizens of all faiths and backgrounds to voluntarily join in prayer for the success and safety of our students.

We want to thank Governor Hutchinson for recognizing September 28 as the state’s second annual Day of Prayer for Arkansas Students. And we want to encourage Arkansans everywhere to pause next week to pray for our students, our teachers, and our school administrators.
