More legislators are considering action to rein in the Arkansas Lottery.

John Lyon of the Arkansas News Bureau reports that some state Democrat and Republican lawmakers are now open to lottery reform, considering recent events revealing a lack of accountability at the Arkansas Lottery. More specifically, some lawmakers are seeking ways to bring the lottery under the control of the legislature.

We’ve been telling folks from the beginning that the Arkansas Lottery is out of control, and I applaud those members of the legislature who are ready to rein it in. The Arkansas Lottery is a state agency, just like the Game and Fish Commission or the Highway Commission, and it needs to be held accountable to the People of Arkansas the same way other agencies are.
