The New York Times recently published an article highlighting the sad trend of marriage’s decline in parts of our country.
According to the article, 63% of all births to women under 30 in Lorain County, Ohio, are to unwed mothers.
This is what happens when society begins redefining the word “marriage.” When society decides that marriage is not a lifelong commitment; that it is not necessarily a union of one man and one woman; and that it is not necessarily the best environment for raising children, people do not have examples of good marriages they can follow, and either do not marry or do not stay married as a result.
The truth is, as some people quoted in the article hint at, stable marriages are essential for stable families.
