How Scripture Opposes Racism

Our friends at the Colson Center for Christian Worldview have released a brief commentary citing the biblical case against racism.

Eric Metaxas writes,

God’s unshakeable and irresistible goal is for people of every tongue, tribe, and nation to worship His Son, Jesus Christ. Revelation 7:9 says, “After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands.”

That verse alone ought to be the death knell of racism! God is glorified when people of all races worship His Son. It is a picture of the coming heavenly kingdom that we can glimpse right now.

Poll Finds Americans Likely to Say Churches Have Positive Impact in Country

A new poll from Pew Research indicates Americans are likely to say churches have a positive impact on the way things are going in the country — ahead of colleges, labor unions, banks, and the national news media.

Overall, 59% of those polled said churches and religious organizations have a positive impact on the country. For comparison, 55% said colleges and universities have a positive impact on the way things are going, and 47% said labor unions have a positive impact.

Interestingly, 66% of those who attend religious services only occasionally say churches have a positive impact–meaning even those who are not particularly involved in church recognize the good that churches do.

As we have written elsewhere, just having a church building in your neighborhood repels some types of evil. It keeps certain vices away from our children and our neighbors. It makes our communities more wholesome – often without anyone noticing.

Family Council Signs Letter in Support of Judge Gorsuch

This week, Family Council co-signed a letter to the U.S. Senate in support of Judge Neil Gorsuch, President Trump’s nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court.

The letter reads in part,

Judge Gorsuch is widely recognized as a jurist possessed of deep intelligence and true fairmindedness. In 2006 the U.S. Senate recognized these qualities, confirming Gorsuch without dissent to his current position on the 10th Circuit. After a decade of constitutionally sound and clearly written rulings and opinions, Judge Gorsuch deserves once again the swift approval of the Senate.

The letter was produced by the pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List.

Altogether, some sixty conservative leaders representing state and national organizations co-signed the letter.
