AR House Fails to Ban Marijuana Edibles

This afternoon the Arkansas House of Representatives failed to pass H.B. 1392 by Rep. Robin Lundstrum (R-Elm Springs).

This good bill prohibits companies from making or selling dangerous marijuana edibles in Arkansas.

Medical marijuana users, caregivers, and hospitals would still be able to mix marijuana with food or drink at home to aid ingestion, but companies wouldn’t be able to sell dangerous products infused with marijuana.

In other states, marijuana edibles routinely send people–especially children–to the emergency room. These are extremely dangerous products. H.B. 1392 helps keep them out of Arkansas.

The bill needed 67 votes to pass. It received only 52. Below is a breakdown of the vote.

AR House Votes to Ban Marijuana Smoking

Last week the Arkansas House voted to prohibit or regulate marijuana smoking throughout much of Arkansas.

The bill is H.B. 1400 by Rep. Robin Lundstrum (R-Elm Springs).

Marijuana Use Increases Risk of Coronary Problems in Young Adults

A new study published by researchers from Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center in New York indicates marijuana use significantly increases the risk of acute coronary syndrome in young adults.

Acute coronary syndrome refers to a condition in which blood is unable to reach the heart. It includes  serious heart problems like heart attacks and unstable angina.

This is not the first time marijuana-use has been linked to heart problems. Multiple case studies and reports have been published indicating marijuana-use can cause heart attacks–especially in adolescents and young adults.

As we keep saying, marijuana may be many things, but “harmless” simply is not one of them.
