Ask the FCC to Say ‘No’ to Obscenity on Television

The FCC is considering lifting its longstanding policies against nudity on broadcast TV.

The commission is accepting comments on the proposed policy changes. To ask the FCC to maintain its current policies against nudity and expletives, do the following:

Go to http://apps.fcc.gov/ecfs/upload/begin?procName=&filedFrom=X
Enter “13-86” in the “Proceeding Number” box, and fill out the required information.
Submit your comment asking the FCC not to change its policies on nudity and expletives on TV.
Ask your friends to do the same.

You can read the proposed policy changes here. In a nutshell, the commission is considering adopting a new standard permitting “isolated expletives” and “isolated (non-sexual) nudity” on broadcast television. Please contact the FCC, and ask them not to make these changes.

California Bill Would Punish Boy Scouts, Others

The California Legislature is considering a bill that would punish nonprofit youth organizations like the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Little League, Special Olympics, American Youth Soccer Organization, Future Business Leaders of America, and many religious organizations that serve youth, because these organizations “discriminate on the basis of gender identity, race, sexual orientation, nationality, religion, or religious affiliations.”

6th Circuit: No Need to Put Anti-Religion Sign with Nativity Scene

A three-judge panel from the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals issued a unanimous ruling yesterday against a so-called “Winter Solstice” sign the Freedom From Religion Foundation recently tried to put alongside Christmas decorations in the city of Warren, Michigan. The sign read:

“At this season of THE WINTER SOLSTICE may reason prevail. There are no gods, no devils, no angels, no heaven or hell. There is only our natural world, Religion is but Myth and superstition that hardens hearts And enslaves minds.”
