Overturning “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” Judicial Activism
Yesterday, U.S. District Judge Virginia Phillips—a federal judge from California—ruled that the military’s longstanding “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy was unconstitutional. This common-sense law prohibited open homosexuality in the military to help ensure troop unity and readiness.
Lottery Director Under Fire
Lottery Director Ernie Passailaigue came under fire yesterday from the Arkansas Lottery Commission for awarding compensatory time to high-salaried employees who aren’t eligible for overtime pay. Two commission members moved to relieve Mr. Passailaigue of his duties as lottery director, but the motion didn’t pass and Passailaigue kept his job.
