As of today, we have received 676 comments about lottery ticket vending machines from people all across Arkansas. That’s an amazing number.  Imagine if over 670 people showed up outside the Arkansas Lottery Commission’s office wanting to speak with the director.  That would be an enormous crowd!  Hats off to everyone who has sent in a comment against these lottery vending machines.

Nearly 700 people have had something to say about the vending machines, and we’ve been here to help them make their voices heard.  It’s not over yet, though.  There are just 10 days left in the comment period; between now and then, we need about 330 more people to send in their comments on these machines if we’re going to reach our goal of 1,000.

If you haven’t already done so, please take a minute or two to explain to the Arkansas Lottery Commission why you oppose rolling out 100 lottery ticket vending machines across our state.  Just a sentence or two is all it takes to make your voice heard.  Go to FamilyCouncil.org to submit your comment right now.  We will hand-deliver your words to the Arkansas Lottery Commission on August 13.

We’ve said it before, but it’s worth repeating: These lottery ticket vending machines are just a bad idea.  There’s a reason we banned cigarette vending machines: The machines made it easy for minors to purchase cigarettes.  The same will be true if these lottery ticket vending machines go up across Arkansas: Kids will find ways to gamble.

If you haven’t already done so, we would really appreciate it if you would go to FamilyCouncil.org to speak out against these lottery ticket vending machines.  If possible, please forward this message to as many of your friends and family members as possible, asking them to do the same.  With your help, I believe we can easily get another 330 comments against the lottery ticket vending machines before August 13.  If you like, we can even take your comment over the phone.  Just call 501-375-7000 to speak with a member of our staff.

Thank you for all your support, your kind words, and your prayers.  Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you.
