One would think that an established, Little Rock judge like Tim Fox would have an advantage over a small-town judge like Karen Baker from Clinton.  But last night, Baker crushed Fox in her bid for Arkansas Supreme Court.

It’s a race not many people are talking about, and yet it’s significant in that Supreme Court Justices rule on so many important issues in Arkansas.

Some people might say it was Fox’s liberal ruling on homosexual issues that did him in.  Some might say it was small-town vs. big-city that gave Baker the advantage.  The bottom line, however, is that Baker—who is probably a more conservative justice than Fox—will be sitting on Arkansas’ highest court, and that could bring a judicial shift to our state.

With Initiated Act One on appeal to the Arkansas Supreme Court, it will be interesting to see how newly elected Justices Baker and Henry rule on the issue.
