Blogger Jason Tolbert posted an interesting article yesterday highlighting words from State Representative Garry Smith (D-Camden).

Rep. Smith was quoted as telling a Democratic group in El Dorado, “If Jesus were here today, he would be a Democrat because he tried to help everybody and he still does.” According to the article, he went on to say that “[The Republicans in Washington] don’t like Jesus.”

We asked Rep. Smith repeatedly to vote for pro-life legislation every time it came before the House Public Health Committee he sat on in 2011. On one occasion, Rep. Smith appeared to vote against pro-life legislation during a general voice vote, but then declined to vote at all on the bill when a roll call was requested and his named was called to cast a vote (Tolbert has posted a video of that particular vote here).
