In 1982 President Ronald Reagan delivered his famous Westminster Address to a highly skeptical audience in England. In it, he predicted the imminent demise of the Soviet Union. He said, “I believe we are now at a turning point,” “The march of freedom and democracy will leave Marxism and Leninism on the ash heap of history.”

Reagan was right. Ten years later, people were taking pieces of the Berlin Wall home as souvenirs and the Soviet Union was no more. At the time Reagan spoke those words, it appeared that the Soviet Union would go on forever. Never underestimate the power of those who stand for freedom.

Today, chief among the injustices marring our nation is the aborting of pre-born persons—all in the name of choice. But I believe a day will come when abortion will be thrown on the ash heap of history. On that day, pro-lifers who remain will rejoice and the descendents of those who have passed on will rise and praise those who went before them.

It takes courage to stand up to injustice, but sometimes, in the end, these are the same people we build monuments to. Take courage and don’t be afraid to stand against abortion. We may be at the turning point and not realize it.
