Yesterday we sent out emails and messages asking you to donate money for two full-page newspaper ads asking Rep. Marion Berry not to support the health care “reform” being touted in Congress. Within 15 hours, we raised all the money we need for the ads and then some.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank all of you who gave money. You’ve helped us tremendously in the fight against government-run health care.

We’ve said all along that the kind of reform the President and others in Washington have promoted—government mandated health insurance, expansions of Medicaid, and reductions in Medicare—are not the way to reduce health care costs or lift the tax burden on the American People.

We need to introduce tort reform that will help doctors and hospitals reduce costs by protecting them from frivolous lawsuits. We need to let health insurance providers compete across state lines so that people have more options and better prices available to them. And we need to make sure that nobody’s tax money gets used to pay for abortions or abortion counseling.

Right now, America has the best healthcare system of any civilization in history. The money you helped raise since yesterday afternoon will go directly toward spreading the word about how dangerous government-run health care is, and it will help encourage Rep. Berry to take a stand against the push President Obama and some members of Congress are making this week to change how healthcare works in this country.

We needed $1,500 in less than 24 hours. We received $2,300 in less than 15. The extra $800 will be set aside for additional work fighting the current healthcare legislation and supporting sensible healthcare reforms that won’t put the government in charge of our healthcare system or require voters to shell out more money in taxes.

Because of you, we’re able to take one more step toward defeating this bad healthcare legislation. Thank you again for all your support.
