Planned Parenthood Facility in Rogers Will Open September 14

The Arkansas Times reports Planned Parenthood will open its facility in Rogers, Arkansas, on September 14.

Recently Family Council learned that Planned Parenthood has worked to acquire a facility in Rogers that could be used to perform abortions. The facility was acquired by an entity called 12 Redacre LLC, but the company’s mailing address matched a mailing address for Planned Parenthood Great Plains in Overland Park, Kansas.

Planned Parenthood’s website indicates the facility eventually will perform drug-induced abortions. However, the Arkansas Times article indicates that activity at the facility may initially be limited to things like transgender services and family planning.

We know from experience that Planned Parenthood’s sex education and family planning strategies simply do not work.

The Obama Administration gave Planned Parenthood millions of dollars to conduct teen pregnancy prevention programs in the Pacific Northwest.

Evaluations of the programs revealed students who went through these sex education programs actually were more likely to become pregnant or cause a pregnancy afterward.

In other words, Planned Parenthood’s sex education programs did exactly the opposite of what the federal government had wanted.

In the 1980s and 1990s, public officials in Arkansas promoted Planned Parenthood-style sex education. The programs failed to have a meaningful impact on teen pregnancy and abortion in Arkansas.

Even if family planning or comprehensive sex education were all Planned Parenthood had in mind for its facility in Rogers, there would be cause for concern.

However, Planned Parenthood clearly intends for this facility to be a major abortion center.

City of Jonesboro to Take Up Pro-Life Resolution

The Jonesboro City Council’s Public Services Council Committee will take up a pro-life resolution later this month, according to public documents.

The resolution reads,

A RESOLUTION DECLARING JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, A PRO-LIFE CITY

Whereas, the city of Jonesboro, Arkansas, in accordance with Act 392, enacted into Law by the 93rd General Assembly of the State of Arkansas, wishes to affirm and dedicate itself as a “Pro-Life City;”

Whereas, the Declaration of Independence declares that all men are created equal, and that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, including the right to life;

Whereas, the United States Constitution declares in the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments that no person shall be deprived of life without due process and equal protection of the law;

Whereas, the Arkansas Constitution, Amendment 68 declares the policy of the state is to protect the life of every unborn child from conception until birth;

Whereas, it is the duty of local government to protect the unalienable right to life of every person within its jurisdiction, regardless of what higher ranking civil authorities may decree;

Therefore, without hesitation, inhibition, or compromise, The City of Jonesboro, Arkansas resolves to provide equal protection for life at all stages from conception until natural death and will be known in action and deed, recognized, and designated as a “Pro-Life City.”

If passed, this resolution would send a powerful message about where Jonesboro stands on abortion.

Earlier this year the Arkansas Legislature passed Act 392 of 2021 affirming that municipalities in Arkansas can designate themselves as Pro-Life.

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that municipalities can adopt pro-life policy positions like this resolution.

The City of Springdale adopted a pro-life resolution in 2019, and Washington, Benton, Cleburne, and Crawford counties have passed pro-life resolutions this summer.

The fact is, any city, town, or county in Arkansas can pass a pro-life resolution like the one that Jonesboro is considering.

Public opinion polling shows Arkansans are overwhelmingly pro-life.

We hope Jonesboro and other communities will pass pro-life resolutions in the coming weeks.

Why Asking Kids to Announce Their Pronouns is a Big Deal

John Stonestreet, Radio Host and Director of the Colson Center

According to a friend, the first day of her son’s 8th grade class began with teachers asking students to stand up and declare their pronouns. This was in Ohio, but I’d be willing to bet it happened in most state schools this year.

Set aside for a moment the questionable wisdom of asking hormone-riddled middle-schoolers during the most awkward times of their lives to talk about their bodies in front of their peers…

This would have never happened five, even three years ago. Compared to other ways gender confusion is aggressively advanced in our culture, this one may seem like an innocuous first-day-of-school icebreaker. It’s not.  Culture is most powerful not where it’s loudest, but where it makes things seem normal, or “common.”  Encouraging students to view their identity as chosen, and their physical bodies as wrong isn’t normal. It isn’t true; and it’s harming our kids.

Christians shouldn’t participate. And parents should not let this classroom activity slide by unopposed.
