CBN News Talks to Pro-Lifers About Proposed Abortion Amendment

CBN News recently traveled to Arkansas to report on a proposal that would write abortion into the state constitution.

Right now a group is working to place the Arkansas Abortion Amendment on the November ballot. The measure would write abortion into the state constitution, and it would prevent the Arkansas Legislature from restricting abortion during the first five months of pregnancy — allowing thousands of elective abortions every year and paving the way for taxpayer-funded abortions in Arkansas.

CBN News interviewed the amendment’s supporters and its opponents, giving pro-lifers the opportunity to talk about how “extremely deceptive” the amendment is.

Fired VT Coach Receives Settlement: Guest Column

Last year, a Vermont high school snowboard coach was fired for stating that boys tend to have an advantage over girls in sports. David Bloch made the comments in an attempt to defuse a heated argument between two students about whether it was fair to let trans-identifying male athletes compete against girls.

This month, almost a year later, Vermont school officials agreed to pay the former coach $75,000 in damages, acknowledging that he, in fact, “did not violate a state-mandated policy prohibiting harassment, hazing, and bullying.”

Regardless of how a person identifies, physical realities mean that boys have a competitive advantage over girls in sports. According to one study, even men who have taken estrogen for two years retained competitive advantage.

Bloch’s lawyer, Tyson Langhofer of the Alliance Defending Freedom, said that the settlement isn’t about the money. It’s about “stand[ing] up” for the right to say what’s true. After all, Langhofer said, “No teacher should ever lose their job for speaking the truth.”

Family Council Intends to Support Funding for Pregnancy Centers at State Legislature

The Arkansas Legislature will convene for its budget session on April 10, and Family Council is gearing up to be there in support of good, pro-life efforts in the state.

Now that abortion is mostly prohibited, we need to make it irrelevant and unthinkable.

That’s why in 2022 we worked with the legislature and the governor to secure $1 million in funding for pregnancy centers. We did the same in 2023.

This funding has gone to good organizations across the state that provide women and families with real assistance in the face of an unplanned pregnancy.

We intend to be back at the state capitol in April to work for an even larger appropriation that will provide funding for these centers in the coming fiscal year.

More than 50 pregnancy help organizations are serving thousands of women in Arkansas. We are glad to help these organizations do even more.
