Arkansas Gets Its Fourth Safe Haven Baby Box

On Monday pro-lifers in Arkansas unveiled the state’s fourth Safe Haven Baby Box — this time at a fire station in Jonesboro.

Arkansas’ Safe Haven Act of 2001 lets a woman surrender her newborn baby to law enforcement, medical personnel, and first responders. The law gives women an option besides abortion.

Similar laws are on the books in all 50 states.

Act 185 of 2019 by Sen. Cecile Bledsoe (R – Rogers) and Rep. Rebecca Petty (R – Rogers) improved Arkansas’ Safe Haven law; it lets fire stations install Safe Haven Baby Boxes where women can anonymously place their newborn.

Safe Haven Baby Boxes installed at fire stations let women surrender a child safely and anonymously using a specialized drop-box designed to keep the baby secure while notifying the first responders inside the fire station that the baby is there.

Right now there are at least 62 Safe Haven Baby Boxes in operation nationwide — including four in Arkansas.

These Safe Haven Baby Boxes are amazing pieces of pro-life technology. It’s good to see communities like Jonesboro make them available to Arkansans.

Pro-Lifers in Arkansas Throw Baby Shower for Child Saved From Abortion

A few of the gifts and supplies that pro-lifers collected in Little Rock.

Over the weekend pro-lifers in Little Rock threw a baby shower for a mother and child saved from abortion last fall by volunteers with 40 Days for Life.

On Saturday Arkansans dropped gifts of diapers, clothes, and other baby supplies off at the pregnancy resource center next door to the surgical abortion facility in Little Rock.

40 Days for Life Little Rock posted a photo of some of the gifts at the start of the baby shower, writing,

We had a great time showering this sweet mom. (And no rain shower was a welcome bonus.)
Here’s a BEFORE photo. So many gifts … you folks just kept lavishing the love of Jesus on this mom and her baby. It took two cars full of presents to get her home! Thank you all for being so generous and showing Christ’s love.

Pro-life organizations like 40 Days for Life and local pregnancy resource centers do so much to save women and children from abortion and support families in Arkansas!

Little Rock Surgical Abortion Facility Calls Ambulance for 68th Time: Operation Rescue

Operation Rescue reports that the surgical abortion facility in Little Rock recently placed its 68th emergency call for an ambulance transport at the facility.

Operation Rescue writes,

Little Rock Family Planning is the only surgical abortion facility in Arkansas. It is affiliated with the National Abortion Federation, whose members include some of the most problematic abortion facilities in the nation.

A Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) printout from the emergency on March 30, 2021, was so heavily redacted that only small bits of information about the woman’s condition could be gleaned from it.  However, it was enough to know that her condition was serious and required an ambulance equipped for Advance Life Support.

We have written repeatedly about ambulances sighted at the surgical abortion facility in Little Rock over the years.

All of this underscores why it is so important for Arkansas to continue passing pro-life legislation that will stop abortion and protect women from dangerous abortion procedures.

This week Gov. Hutchinson signed Act 740 of 2021 that will require abortionists to maintain transfer agreements with local hospitals to handle these sorts of abortion complications. The measure also requires abortionists to post and share literature about human trafficking at their facilities.

Lawmakers also recently passed S.B. 388 as well as S.B. 463 tightening Arkansas’ restrictions on abortion facilities.

Laws like these help save the lives of unborn children, and they protect women and girls from abortion procedures that can be dangerous or deadly.
