Arkansas Legislature Advances Bill to Reduce Used Car Tax

On Wednesday the Senate Revenue and Tax Committee passed H.B. 1912.

This good bill by Rep. John Payton (R – Wilburn) and Sen. Jason Rapert (R – Conway) reduces the tax on used cars sold for $4,000 – $10,000 from 6.5% to 3.5%.

Family Council has worked on this issue for over a decade.

The used car tax hurts Arkansas’ poor and middle class families. A lot of folks can barely scrape together a few thousand dollars to buy a used car. They can’t afford to pay the state on top of that.

Single moms who need a reliable vehicle shouldn’t be penalized for buying a used car. H.B. 1912 gives families some relief.

This is commonsense legislation will help a lot of families.

The bill now goes to the entire Arkansas Senate for consideration.

Arkansas Governor Signs Bill That Will Help Protect Victims of Botched Abortions

Rep. Bentley presents S.B. 527 to the Arkansas House of Representatives on April 12.

On Tuesday Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson signed pro-life measure S.B. 527 into law.

It is now Act 740 of 2021.

This good law by Sen. Ben Gilmore (R – Crossett) and Rep. Mary Bentley (R – Perryville) requires abortion facilities to have transfer agreements with hospitals to handle complications from abortion.

Act 740 is similar to a Kentucky law that has been upheld in court.

Abortion carries a number of serious risks — including risk of laceration, hemorrhaging, and death. That’s why it is important for state law to protect women from dangerous abortion procedures.

We have written repeatedly about ambulances sighted at the surgical abortion facility in Little Rock over the years.

Act 740 is a good law that will help protect women from botched abortions and life-threatening complications from dangerous abortion procedures.

Come to a Baby Shower This Saturday for Child Saved From Abortion

The following is an announcement from our friends at 40 Days for Life in Little Rock:

The Little Rock group of 40 Days for Life is hosting a baby shower on April 24 for one of the moms who chose life at our vigil this past fall.  Here’s the details!

We will be outside of the Arkansas Pregnancy Resource Center (#2 Office Park Drive, Little Rock, AR 72211) from 2:30pm-3:30pm.  I will bring a canopy in case of wet weather.

The baby is a girl, so little girl clothes as well as diapers and wipes or gift cards would be most helpful.

This will be a ‘drop-in/drive-by’ shower, not the ‘stay and play games’ type.

Let’s have a great time blessing this mom and her little one!
