Listen: President Roosevelt’s D-Day Prayer

On June 6, 1944, as Allied forces battled Nazis soldiers in Europe as part of the D-Day invasion, President Franklin D. Roosevelt went on the radio to ask the American people to join him in prayer.

Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our Nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity.

Lead them straight and true; give strength to their arms, stoutness to their hearts, steadfastness in their faith.

Remembering Pearl Harbor

Today, December 7, marks the anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. We pause to remember the lives lost in that attack, and give thanks for the freedoms we enjoy because of the sacrifices made by those who came before us.
