Arkansas Governor Signs Bill That Will Help Protect Victims of Botched Abortions

Rep. Bentley presents S.B. 527 to the Arkansas House of Representatives on April 12.

On Tuesday Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson signed pro-life measure S.B. 527 into law.

It is now Act 740 of 2021.

This good law by Sen. Ben Gilmore (R – Crossett) and Rep. Mary Bentley (R – Perryville) requires abortion facilities to have transfer agreements with hospitals to handle complications from abortion.

Act 740 is similar to a Kentucky law that has been upheld in court.

Abortion carries a number of serious risks — including risk of laceration, hemorrhaging, and death. That’s why it is important for state law to protect women from dangerous abortion procedures.

We have written repeatedly about ambulances sighted at the surgical abortion facility in Little Rock over the years.

Act 740 is a good law that will help protect women from botched abortions and life-threatening complications from dangerous abortion procedures.

Come to a Baby Shower This Saturday for Child Saved From Abortion

The following is an announcement from our friends at 40 Days for Life in Little Rock:

The Little Rock group of 40 Days for Life is hosting a baby shower on April 24 for one of the moms who chose life at our vigil this past fall.  Here’s the details!

We will be outside of the Arkansas Pregnancy Resource Center (#2 Office Park Drive, Little Rock, AR 72211) from 2:30pm-3:30pm.  I will bring a canopy in case of wet weather.

The baby is a girl, so little girl clothes as well as diapers and wipes or gift cards would be most helpful.

This will be a ‘drop-in/drive-by’ shower, not the ‘stay and play games’ type.

Let’s have a great time blessing this mom and her little one!

Arkansas Senate Passes Bad Bill Permitting Public Drinking in Dry Counties

On Tuesday the Arkansas Senate narrowly passed H.B. 1228 by a vote of 18 to 14.

This bad bill by Rep. Lee Johnson (R – Greenwood) and Sen. Breanne Davis (R – Russellville) lets cities in dry counties approve public drinking in “entertainment districts” adjacent to private clubs that sell alcohol.

The Senate previously rejected H.B. 1228 on March 17. However, on Tuesday the bill passed despite having been soundly rejected just a few weeks ago.

Currently, cities and towns in wet counties can approve public drinking in entertainment districts.

H.B. 1228 expands Arkansas’ alcohol laws to let people carry and consume alcohol on city streets and sidewalks in entertainment districts in dry counties.

Does anyone really think that voters imagined there would be public drinking in their communities when they voted to make their county dry?

And yet that’s what will happen in some dry counties under H.B. 1228.

Below is a breakdown of Tuesday’s senate vote on H.B. 1228, the bill expanding public drinking to dry counties in Arkansas.
